Everyone!

Pilates is a comprehensive physical exercise program that can be adapted to suit many needs. It can be modified to be intensive and demanding enough for professional athletes to incorporate into a workout, or to gently and effectively help the body to recover from injury or sickness. Pilates can help to alleviate stress as well as increase strength, flexibility and fitness. Everyone has differing needs and abilities which is why I tailor your session specifically for you.

It is practiced by all age groups, from older children to seniors, and by people with varying physical conditions and degrees of fitness. I have worked with clients who want to be fitter and stronger, and with those who have other challenges, such as

  • low muscle tone (hypotonia)

  • rheumatoid arthritis

  • osteo-arthritis

  • pre- and post-natal women

  • post-acute surgical recovery

  • chronic injuries

'I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and Genevieve constantly adapts her lesson according to my need and varies the class every session to ensure an overall workout. Often she adapts the exercise according to my pain on that particular day and is constantly looking for different exercises to help me' - Dot

ALL levels of athletes

Pilates is practiced by professional athletes such as Tiger Woods, Australian cricketer Darren Clark, and even the New Zealand All Blacks. It is an excellent tool for fine-tuning an athletic body, or addressing imbalances that can occur in certain sports, such as quad dominance and weak, tight, hamstrings in runners.

Whether you are a keen amateur or a competing athlete Pilates can help you improve your performance. Focus on specific issues, increase overall conditioning, correct imbalances, or improve your range of movement, strength, and fitness.

Here are just a few of the very diverse professional athletes who have used Pilates to enhance their training

  • Andre Ward (boxing, Olympic gold medallist)

  • Colby Bryant (LA Lakers basketball)

  • Tiger Woods (golf)

  • Michael Clarke (cricket)

  • David Beckham (football)

  • Roger Federer (tennis)

  • Serena Williams (tennis)

  • Sanya Richards Ross (400m track dual Olympic gold medallist)

  • Dana Vollmer (butterfly, Olympic gold medallist, world record holder)
